The Bailout Sidemount Workshop is designed for rebreather divers who want to take advantage of sidemount techniques for carrying bailout cylinders. The workshop focuses on configuring and positioning bailout cylinders so they remain streamlined, easily accessible, and stable throughout the dive.
The program is suitable for both backmount and sidemount CCR divers. Its primary goal is to optimize bailout cylinder configuration and improve the overall ergonomics, trim, and comfort of the diving system.
Who is this course for
- CCR divers using backmount rebreathers
- CCR divers using sidemount rebreathers
- Divers looking to improve bailout cylinder ergonomics
- Divers preparing for more demanding technical, trimix, exploration, or cave dives
- Divers seeking improved trim and hydrodynamic efficiency
- Divers who want to optimize the configuration of their bailout cylinders
- * This workshop is intended for certified CCR divers using their own rebreather system.
What you will learn
- Configuration of bailout cylinders in a sidemount setup
- Proper positioning and attachment of bailout cylinders
- Optimization of trim and hydrodynamics in CCR configurations
- Hose routing and regulator organization in a bailout sidemount setup
- Configuration and adjustment of the system for a specific rebreather model
- Efficient placement of additional equipment
- Individual optimization of the configuration for comfort and ergonomics
- Practical use of a bailout sidemount configuration during divin
How we work
The workshop follows the Sidemount Precision Protocol methodology, built on precision, procedures, and the conscious development of diving skills. We focus on proper bailout cylinder configuration, equipment organization, and adapting the entire system to the diver's specific rebreather and individual needs.
Each configuration is analyzed and optimized both on land and in the water. Throughout the workshop, we use video analysis to evaluate diver positioning, trim, and the behavior of the configuration while swimming. This allows participants to receive precise feedback and improve the ergonomics, comfort, and hydrodynamic performance of their bailout sidemount setup.
Course schedule
The workshop is conducted over one intensive training day. The program includes an evaluation of the participant's current configuration, equipment setup workshops, and two practical dives during which bailout cylinder positioning and configuration are tested and optimized.
* Analysis of the current CCR and bailout configuration
* Bailout sidemount equipment workshop
* Selection of attachment points and cylinder positioning
* Hose routing, regulator placement, and equipment organization
* Dry drills
* Two practical dives
* Evaluation of trim, buoyancy, and hydrodynamic performance
* Video analysis and debriefing
* Individual recommendations for further configuration optimization
